All Good Things - Shadow

In the contest entry pic, I classed Shadow as a villain when he really isn't. He's an Anti-hero if anything. But still it work for the whole light vs. dark thing.
When this was originally drawn, I could help but HATE how the head came out. Luckily the inking and colouring sorted out the problem REAL good n__n
I knew I wanted the Chaos Emerald to be glowing, but it was difficult to get that effect, which still didn't come out 100% as I wanted it. But still I like the colouring, especially the green lighting on Shadow's front.
Can anyonw give me any tips for drawing Shadow's spines from that angle? I had a whack at it, but it didn't work 100%. Woah, that's two %s in one comment. I should really stop.
